Luca Maffei is a young Italian independent perfumer working for his own company, Atelier Fragranze Milano. He is a natural born perfumer, who has grown up in the family business with his father Marco and business partner and nose Maurizio Cerizza. Fascinated since his early years by the charm of raw materials and the mysterious alchemy by which they combine, he went on exploring this unique world undertaking his training in Grasse, the latter student of Françoise Marin. In 2014 he became member of SFP - Société Française des Parfumeurs.
He has already signed more than 50 creations for both mainstream and niche brands, and this includes room fragrances and candles as well. 2016 has been a year full of primary international acknowledgments for Maffei. For the second year in a row he has been awarded with “The Art and Olfaction Award” (this year for Néa created for the French brand JUL ET MAD Paris), a top achievement in artistic perfumery. The creation of the official olfactory identity of Alitalia, the Italian leading airline, is his, too, while the cologne ‘50’ which will be a limited edition fragrance custom designed to celebrate the 50°th anniversary of Cosmoprof Worldwide, the international beauty focused event – a joint venture with Accademia del Profumo – carries his signature as well.
